I believe there is no such thing as a perfect child, parent, or family. We are all doing the best we can with the resources we have. While growing up, I certainly had challenges, but I also had many opportunities and things I am grateful for. I have always been curious and an observer, and I believe this is what led me to become a therapist. I’ve always wanted to know more about people, but I’ve also felt compelled to help those whom many overlooked. Our schools and systems often don’t have enough resources or supports for children, particularly those children who are more unique or have more challenges. I am passionate about helping children and families get the supports they deserve.
On a personal note, I am a proud Arizona native. I am married and a mommy to two wild boys, ages 5 and 8. As a family, we spend a lot of time at our local parks and pools, playing at indoor play places around the valley, and building more train tracks and Lego figures than I could have ever imagined possible. For my adult time, I love running, working out, discovering local businesses, and seeing live music and comedy shows.
Background
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and I specialize in treating trauma, attachment needs, depression, and anxiety in children. I am experienced working with presenting issues related to foster/adoption, neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism, etc.), life changes (divorce, starting/changing school), grief/loss, and more. Many times, parents have been told their child’s behaviors are too much or feel themselves completely lost on how to help. What I can tell you is that you are not alone, and I can help.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University with my Bachelor of Family and Human Development and a minor in Sociology. I went on to obtain my Master of Marriage and Family Therapy from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a native to Arizona, I soon returned to begin my career and discover my passion working with, what is affectionally known in the field as, “the littles.”
Over the past 15 years, I have obtained extensive training to support my work with children and families. After hundreds of hours of training and supervision in addition to thousands of hours of direct therapy work with clients, I am now a Registered Play Therapist (RPT-S), an Endorsed Infant Mental Health Clinical Specialist (IMH-E), and a certified Perinatal Mental Health Clinician (PMH-C). I am additionally rostered as a Child-Parent Psychotherapist (CPP) and certified in Synergetic Play Therapy (SPT), Theraplay, DIRFloortime, and AutPlay. These accomplishments may or may not mean a whole lot, as they are very specific to my therapy work with children. However, what I hope for parents and guardians to know is that I love what I do, I have a tremendous amount of experience working with young children, what you’re dealing with is likely something I have helped others with before, and I want nothing more than to empower children and families just like yours.
